These Couples Lit Up the Met Ball Red Carpet Together

These duos looked better together at the annual gala.
Monday night’s Met Ball was all about the clothes—and the couples.
Officially known as the Metropolitan Museum of Art Costume Benefit, the gala brought out a dazzling display of fashion to raise money for the Costume Institute at the museum and kick off their annual show.
The there this year was Manus x Machina: Fashion in an Age of Technology, and Vogue editor Anna Wintour hosted, of course, along with Apple design chief Jonathan Ive, Idris Elba, and Taylor Swift. A single ticket cost $30,000, and last year, more than $12.5 million was raised.
Here are some of the best couples from the night.
Gigi Hadid & Zayn Malik
The supermodel and the singer, who appear in the May issue of Vogue together, made their red carpet debut at the Met Ball, and seemed to have coordinated their look. Gigiwore a custom metallic Tommy Hilfiger gown while Zayn wore a Versace suit with a very noticeable accessory—robot arms.

Kim Kardashian & Kanye West
Remember when Kim wore a couch? Not this time. She was a bit more chic in a Balmain dress with a Lorraine Schwartz ear cuff, while her husband wore a crystal jacket and $895 Fear of God jeans. He also looked kind of like a vampire with those blue contacts.

Zoe Saldana & Marco Perego Saldana

The actress wore a Dolce & Gabbana gown with a long train, along with a D&G clutch and jewels. But her best accessory was her handsome husband.

Bella Hadid & The Weeknd
The duo went with Givenchy, with Bella looking stunning in her strapless gown.

Rose Bryne & Bobby Cannavale
The new parents left newborn son Rocco home for a night out. Rose looked beautiful in a a custom-made metallic gown by Ralph Lauren,  while Bobby Cannavale wore a Purple Label navy tuxedo.

Kris Jenner & Corey Gamble

Kris wore an elegant black Balmain gown, with a choker, while Corey wore a military style black jacket, topped with a gold chain.

The show at the Met is set to open today may 5th

Read Adele’s Perfect Response to Beyoncé’s Lemonade

“I'm not late on this, I’ve just been speechless.”

lasst year, Adele pledged her allegiance to Beyoncé in a radio interview, telling audiences everywhere that she was firmly planted on Team “Queen Bey to the day I die.” So when Beyoncé unveiled Lemonade less than two weeks ago, we wondered how Adele—outspoken Beyoncé mega-fan, powerhouse chanteuse, and possibly the only performer on this planet who even qualifies as a peer—would react. Would she draw the shades, dim the lights, and listen to Beyoncé blow the lid off her strained marriage in awed silence—playing the album on repeat for a week straight? Would she host a casual listening party with friends Emma Stone and Jennifer Lawrence? Would she power up the Bey signal to alert the Lemonade mastermind that she approved? (That’s how the superstars communicate with each other, right?) Or would she feel so immediately inspired by the HBO special that she would halt all other activities to pen her own response album? Finally, on Tuesday, Adele broke her silence about Bey’s headline-grabbing album, revealing why she’s been so slow to speak out.
In an Instagram posted on Tuesday about Lemonade, Adele revealed, “I’m not late on this I’ve just been speechless. Beyoncé is the most inspiring person I’ve ever had the pleasure of worshipping. Her talent, beauty, grace and work ethic are all in a league of their own. I appreciate you so much! Thank god for Beyoncé X”
Adele completed her shout-out with a gorgeous black-and-white photo showing Adele literally bowing down next to a poster of the superstar.
Now if only Beyoncé would return the public display of affection on her own social-media feeds. (We’ll be waiting, Bey.)
Last year, a rumor circulated that Adele had actually turned down a request from Bey to record a duet together. Adele called into a local radio station to clear up the vicious lie, tellingZane Lowe, “I would never disrespect her like that.”
She continued, “I’m such a fan, oh my God!” Eventually, she added, “Obviously, Queen Bey to the day I die.”
During another interview, with Time, Adele clarified, “Whoever started that rumor must have been having a laugh because anyone who knows me knows that my main priority in life outside of my child is Beyoncé.”
Now how about that duet already!

Janet Jackson Is Pregnant with Her First Child

This coming Mother’s Day will be a big one for Janet Jackson!
The singer is currently expecting a baby with husbandWissam Al Mana. According to Entertainment Tonight, Jackson, who turns 50 on May 16, is pregnant with her first child with the billionaire business magnate.
In April, Jackson announced that she was postponing her world tour indefinitely due to family planning.
“We’re in the second leg of the tour and there actually has been a sudden change. I thought it was important that you be the first to know. My husband and I are planning our family. I’m gonna have to delay the tour,” she said at the time. “Please if you can try and understand that it’s important that I do this now. I have to rest up, doctor’s orders. But I have not forgotten about you. I will continue the tour as soon as I possibly can.”
The songstress previously postponed 29 U.S. tour dates due to an unspecified surgery, denying rumors that she had cancer. In March, Jackson’s European dates were canceled.
Jackson and al Mana got married in 2012 after dating for two years.

* Government to rehabilitate 5,000 primary health centres in 5,000 wards this year to deliver affordable health care services to Nigerians as close as possible to their homes.

2016Budget FG Unveils 34 Priority Projects

President Muhammadu Buhari will today receive the clean copy of the 2016 budget from the National Assembly, just as the federal government has unveiled 34 strategic priority projects for this year.

Speaking to State House correspondents after the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting presided over by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, minister of state for budget and national planning, Zainab Ahmed, alongside the minister of information, Lai Mohammed, minister of state for industry, trade and investment, Aisha Abubakar, minister of state for foreign affairs, Khadija Abba Ibrahim, stated they discussed the strategic implementation plan for the 2016 budget.

She said: “On the 2016 budget, I must say the executive and legislature have worked very hard in putting things together, reviewing the details of the budget and it is at its final stage; so maybe between today (Wednesday) and tomorrow, the National Assembly will start the process of transmitting the details to the president.

According to her, the Ministry of Budget and National Planning presented to council for discussion priority economic activities that the administration needs to undertake to ensure that the purpose for which the 2016 budget was made, which is to stimulate the economy, to create jobs for our teeming youths and to extend support to the poor and very vulnerable, is realised.

She said the ministry presented 34 strategic priority programmes that need to be realised within 2016, noting that each of these projects programmes has very clear deliverables and targets and indicators which will be measured to ensure that the respective ministries, departments and agencies (MDAs) deliver on the desired goals.

Ahmed disclosed that these 34 specific areas are grouped into four major objectives. The first is policy, governance and security; the second is diversification of the economy; the third is creating support for the poor and the vulnerable while the fourth is reflecting the economy through investment.

She stated that the paper was well received by council and that the 34 priority projects were approved for implementation.

According to her, the Ministry of Budget and National Planning has been given responsibility to track and report the performance of these key priority areas to the council on quarterly basis.

She said: “The 34 priority areas that we need to implement in 2016 are categorized into six thematic areas. There is policy, governance and security and one item from that is to achieve and maintain a capital spend minimum of 30 per cent on an annual basis starting from 2016.

“The objective of doing that is to reflect the economy and enhance employment generation capacity for the productive sector. Another area is to achieve an appropriate exchange regime; the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) is leading this particular action. The objective is to achieve a predictable exchange rate by the end of 2016.

“There is also a target for us to increase low interest lending to the real sector. The focus is to achieve an interest rate that is single digit, maybe nine per cent, and the purpose is to increase output and growth. Again the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment along with the CBN are taking action on this.

“We also have a target to maintain a stable debt management strategy so that we can optimise the local and foreign debts that we have and the Ministry of Finance and the Debt Management Office will be taking action on this.”

On the issue of diversifying the economy, she said the administration plans to implement measures to achieve self-sufficiency and become a net export of certain number of agricultural produce, the first one being rice.

“We plan to attain self-sufficiency in rice production by 2018, in tomato paste by 2016 and also increase local production of maize, soya beans, poultry and livestock. The deadline for these will be announced later in the year. The Ministry of Agriculture is still trying to work out details. It means we will stop importing and we will get to a point when we will start exporting.

“We also have plans to expand the agro-allied sector to intensify local production of cassava, cocoa, cashew nuts, fruits and sesame seeds and the Agric Ministry is also leading in that area.

“There is also plan to make use of 5,000 hectares arable land in 12 River Basin Development Authorities and to utilise 22 dams for commercial farming by prospective investors and the objective is to extend farming so that it can become an all-year round activity and that there is productivity all-year round.

She further announced a plan to implement a road map to increase private sector investment in tourism and sports “and the objective is to increase investment in the service sector thereby increasing job creation and youth employment.

“The power, rails and road are also very important priority area. There are a number of specific activities but one of them is to optimise up to 7,000 megawatts installed capacity and to ensure the associated infrastructure to ensure we transmit and distribute this capacity in the maximum operational level that is obtainable, and also to conclude the privatisation of NIPP plants and improve management and performance of TSA (Treasury Single Account). The Ministry of Power, Works and Housing is leading in this regard. The target deliverables is to increase the availability of power, thereby enhancing investment, productivity and employment and business growth in our country.

She added that it was also the government’s priority objective to resolve all issues concerning gas pricing.

“The availability of gas is very key to the availability of power to the nation, so gas pricing is a priority and is currently being addressed and will be finalised and payment will be provided to the gas suppliers who are being owed significant amount of money.

“And also there is plan to conclude the road map of development, the objective of all of these is to increase investment, and gas peaks supply to the oil industry.”

The minister noted the administration’s commitment to reviving rail transportation in Nigeria.

She said: “There is also plan to complete the Kaduna-Abuja-Ajaokuta railway lines in 2016. We are also revising the National Rail Masterplan which is commencing construction of the Lagos-Kano standard Gauge Rail line and also to finalise the negotiation regarding the Calabar-Lagos rail line. Of course the objective of this is to increase availability of mass transit, to reduce pressure on road infrastructure. The Federal Ministry of Transport is leading in this regard working in collaboration with Ministry of Finance and Ministry of Budget and Planning to ensure the required funding is availed for this project.”

She also disclosed plans to rehabilitate and construct 31 major projects and restore the degraded sections of some major highways and improve connectivity over a distance of 210,093 kilometres through public works maintenance, Public Private Partnership (PPP) and other interventions.

Ahmed further spoke on the administration’s plans in the oil sector.

The minister said: The fourth thematic area which is oil and gas reforms. One of the key objective is to adopt and execute a comprehensive national oil and gas policy, which is supposed to be the road map for the petroleum industry development diversification as well as privation and also to adopt and execute a road map for the stoppage of gas flaring in our country.

“We are setting a three-year deadline to achieve self-sufficiency in refined petroleum products and to become a net exporter of petroleum products. The objective of this is to increase domestic supply of refined products and to reduce demand on foreign exchange for importing refined products in our country. The Ministry of Petroleum is pushing this. There is also a plan to push for the passage of the Petroleum Industry Bill (PIB) in conjunction with the National Assembly.”

She asserted that the administration was taking measures to improve the country’s poor status in terms of the ease of doing business.

“We are going to do this by implementing a number of measures specifically targeted at fast-tracking business approvals, acquisition of land titles, and issuance of visas for persons seeking to come into our country and do business,” she explained.

“The sixth area is the investment in the lives of our people by implementing various social projects covering health, education and the essence is to bring succour to the poor and vulnerable to achieve the targets set by the Social Protection Policy which is currently under production. Almost every ministry has a role to play in this.

“On health sector, we plan to rehabilitate 5,000 primary health centres in 5,000 wards in 2016. The objective is to deliver affordable health care services to Nigerians as close as possible to their homes.

“Let me emphasis that when we say we want to move towards a predictable exchange rate in the country; we are not planning to devalue the naira. The CBN and the money policy committee are working on this and will be concluded and made available to the country to enable users to be able to predict the exchange rate at any point in time.”

At 73, Buhari lacks ideas to run Nigeria – Fayose

The Ekiti State Governor Ayodele Fayose on Tuesday said his criticisms of President Muhammadu Buhari was not borne out of his hatred for him but out of his conviction that at 73, Buhari was not strong enough to lead a complex country like Nigeria.
The governor, who spoke at an event organised by the Oyo State chapter of the Nigeria Union of Journalists to celebrate the World Press Freedom Day in Ibadan, said those who voted for Buhari in the last presidential election did not know who he was.
He stressed that in the last one year, Nigeria had never had it so bad, noting that the fuel crisis, exchange rate of dollar to naira, killings by Fulani herdsmen and power situation were indices that showed that Buhari’s government lacked the idea to rule the country.
Fayose said, “People say that I abuse Buhari, I am not abusing him because he is like my grandfather but I know the history. Eighty per cent of people that voted for Buhari in the South-West did not know him. They are between 18 and 40. They voted because they wanted change desperately and I agree with them. He left government 32 years ago so they did not experience his rule.
“Today, the Peoples Democratic Party is no longer in government so they should stop blaming the PDP. They told us that dollars would become one to one with the naira. But where is that today? The regime of fuel subsidy is gone and we now have food subsidy. Queues are back at petrol stations. Whatever I say is divine. The next thing to happen will be the removal of the Kogi State governor. I have not lost a battle in my life and when I lost one, I came back to win.
“We have never had it so bad like in the last 12 months; electricity has gone to zero and we no longer have light in our houses. I am here to tell Nigerians that we are in the wrong direction because you cannot give what you don’t have. There is a time to retire because of the diminishing return on the functionality of the brain. At 75, my mother can do little.”
The governor also criticised the anti-corruption war of Buhari, describing it as biased.
“When you want to deal with corruption, do it wholeheartedly. Don’t say because this person has now joined the All Progressives Congress, he is now a saint. When I was supporting the ACN, they gave me many titles. Now that I am no longer with them, they see me as an enemy,” he said.

Tupac's late mother Afeni Shakur ensured that his money & music was legally protected

The mother of hip hop legend,Tupac, Afeni Shakur, who passed away on Monday, ensured that his money and music was legally protected just in case there was any problem when she dies.

According to TMZ, she had already taken some smart steps to guard Tupac's music and financial legacy before her death. Afeni Shakur had set up a trust to control all of Tupac's music rights and the paperwork is flawless. She had also named the former head of Warner Bros. records, Tom Whalley, to handle the legend's valuable catalog. The said Trust is reportedly very specific about heirs.
Afeni ordered that the money should be shared between some selected charities & family members. Her estranged Husband, Gust Davis, who recently took her to court in a bid to get a share of Tupac's money, a house and more, isn't mentioned in the trust. Hence, the money is 'untouchable' in the divorce case which was ongoing before her death.

How Beyonce Shook Up the Music Industry (Again) With 'Lemonade'

There's a guiding business principle to the nearly 20-year-old career of global pop icon beyonce: Being the exception is the rule.
Certainly that was the case with her sixth solo album, Lemonade, which appeared as a Tidal exclusive on the night of Saturday, April 23, paired with a one-hour HBO special as a visual accompaniment (788,000 tuned in live, according to the network). In an unorthodox -- and somewhat unpredictable -- release, some 18 hours later Lemonade was available for purchase in the Tidal digital store for $17.99 (a package that includes the HBO special, which was directed by Jonas AkerlundMark Romanek and Kahlil Joseph, among others), and by early Monday, iTunes and Amazon also had the album (a physical version is due out May 6).
Call it a tiered rollout: methodical, tactical and, if not flawless, perfectly successful.
Executives at Columbia Records -- Beyoncé's longtime home at Sony Music, with which she recently re-upped her commitment in an exclusive licensing partnership between the label and her company, Parkwood Entertainment -- were said to be "very happy with day one." Some 1.8 million tweets referenced the singer that day, but they were even happier with album sales, estimated to come in at more than 450,000 in the week ending April 28 (and likely 550,000-plus with track- and streaming-equivalent albums), say industry forecasters. It's the sort of success story "we all need," says a high-ranking source.
Perhaps none more so than Tidal, the streaming service Jay Z bought for $56 million. Beset early on by criticism of its artist-ownership model, executive overhaul and a series of tech mishaps, Tidal struggled to find its footing. But in the past four months, it has laid claim to two No. 1 albums (Rihanna's Anti and Kanye West's The Life of Pablo), the 300-song digital catalog of Prince and now Lemonade, which Tidal will stream exclusively "in perpetuity," a rep tells Billboard.
In fact, what was called a misstep weeks ago, the stop-start of West's "living album,"Pablo, can now be seen as a positive. Tidal showed a new nimbleness in the face of artistic whims -- needed even for Lemonade, which a week before its release was still being worked on, according to insiders. Pablo purportedly racked up 250 million global streams in its first 10 days (the album was released wide six weeks later).
Still, exclusives don't sit well with all streamers. Spotify global head of communications and public policy Jonathan Prince released a statement in the wake of Lemonade calling such deals "bad for artists and bad for fans." But Spotify's commanding market-share lead (30 million subscribers) enables it to take that stance.
Tidal's reliance on high-profile exclusives tripled its number of subscribers worldwide between September 2015 and March 2016 to 3 million, according to the company."The jury's out on the long-term effect of exclusives," says MusicWatch managing partner Russ Crupnick, who notes that while Tidal flew to No. 1 in the App Store, its usage among listeners is steady at 1 percent. "If I can get Lemonade a day later on iTunes, how exclusive is that? It's like knowing you can get the new Tesla at the Kia dealer."
Tidal's competitors aren't sitting idle. In March, Spotify raised $1 billion in convertible debt financing, upping its war chest to $2.5 billion. (Tidal has not disclosed funding.) Apple Music is growing fast, announcing on April 26 that it has added 2 million subscribers since February, reaching 13 million. (Apple also locked in a one-week exclusive for the newDrake album, Views From the 6, due April 29.)
Future's manager, Anthony Saleh, who negotiated a deal with Apple that included the exclusive release of the rapper's Evol in February, says the current climate "is like Game of Thrones for streaming -- pick your poison ... [Yet], we're big on consumers being able to just get [the music]."

Game Of Thrones’ Might’ve Confirmed That Tyrion Theory

Thanks to Tyrion’s actions on the latest “Game of Thrones,” we almost found out whether Lannisters really do “shit gold.” Good for Tyrion, that remains to be seen, but the tense scene might’ve confirmed something else. And this theory is so hot it’d make a dragon wanna retire, man.
In Sunday’s episode of “Game of Thrones,” Tyrion decided it was time to unchain Dany’s dragons so they’ll start eating again.
“Don’t eat the help,” he said, while anxiously approaching them.
Tyrion attempts to keep the dragons calm, revealing that, as a kid, he wanted a dragon of his own. Just when you think he’s about to become lunch ...
... nothing happens. Tyrion releases the dragons from their chains, and they go back into the darkness.
Varys is dumbfounded by at the events, and so are we, unless you consider one of the most popular “Game of Thrones” theories outside of R + L = J:

The theory: Tyrion is a Targaryen.

The dragons seem to accept Tyrion for some reason. Could it be because he’s actually a Targaryen, a family known for being able to bond with and ride dragons? In the show, Tywin denies that Tyrion is his son multiple times, but the Lannister patriarch tells him, “I cannot prove that you are not mine.”
Well, here’s some help, bro.
1. The Mad King Aerys was known to take “unwonted liberties” with Tywin’s wife, Joanna.

George R.R. Martin‘s The World of Ice & Fire confirms that Aerys took “unwonted liberties” with Joanna Lannister during her wedding night. The king was pretty much obsessed with her, and Aerys’ wife Rhaella supposedly dismissed Joanna as one of her ladies in waiting because of it. The timing works out so that Aerys and Joanna could’ve been together sometime during the year before Tyrion was born.
(Joanna, Twyin and Aerys were all at the Anniversary Tourney of 272 AC. Tyrion was born in 273 AC.)
Joanna would later die in childbirth.
In fact ...
2. Tyrion’s, Dany’s and Jon Snow’s mothers all died at childbirth.
In “Game of Thrones,” there’s a prophecy that says “the dragon has three heads.” Dany hears about it when she visits the House of the Undying. It’s commonly thought that these “three heads” could be three Targaryen dragon riders that will fly on Dany’s dragons. One is Dany, because, duh. Another is thought to be Jon Snow, due to thepopular belief that he’s the son of Rhaegar Targaryen and Lyanna Stark. The third very well could be Tyrion, due to his strange connection with both of them.
If you buy the fact that Rhaegar and Lyanna are Jon Snow’s parents, it means Snow’s, Dany’s and Tyrion’s moms all died during childbirth. For a series with so many important details, a connection like that probably isn’t a mistake.
3. Tyrion looks like a Targaryen.
Quora user Chris Peters explains that, in the books, Tyrion doesn’t look like a traditional Lannister:
This is not apparent in the TV Show, but in the books it’s very pronounced. Jaime and Cersi [sic] have the “typical” Lannister look, golden blonde hair and bright green eyes. Tywin also has these traits. However, (in the books) Tyrion has pale blonde hair, possibly a mix between Lannister golden blonde and Targaryen silver grey.
Peters also mentions that Tyrion’s mismatched eyes in the books might be a sign of Lannister and Targaryen blood mixing. Plus, Joanna’s difficult pregnancy with Tyrion may be a trait found among women giving birth to Targaryen babies.
4. Tyrion is obsessed with dragons.
The show mentioned this in the Tyrion scene, but the books go into much more detail about how Tyrion is semi-obsessed with dragons. The dude also may have had dragon dreams, something found among Targaryens.

Is Tyrion actually the blood of the dragon?

There’s even more evidence in favor of this that we didn’t go into. For instance, in the books, Tyrion seems to amazingly avoid getting the often-terminal disease Greyscale despite a run-in with people who were infected. Dany believes Targaryens are immune to diseases that affect the common people, which would also work with the theory.
Plus, the “Game of Thrones” author himself even teased Tyrion might “fly” one day.Martin wrote on his blog, “Ah, if only the Tyrion in the books could fly, what mischief he will... ah... could... ah, never mind.”
Even with all this, as Tech Insider points out, fans are still divided. Is this theory hot fire? Or should it just go up in smoke? (Dragon puns, right?)
