Foreign gay lover escaped been lynched in ejigbo, lagos.
A foreigner, simply identified as Mr Zcent, has escaped death after he visited his prospective gay friend he met on facebook to advance his sexual lust in Lagos.
He was brutally attacked, battered and dumped at the Catholic Church land at Ori-Oke in Ejigbo area of Lagos by the attackers.
The incident happened at the weekend after Zcent left his Lagos Island home and visited the friend in Ejigbo whom he had talked into gay practice through facebook.
When he arrived in Ejigbo where he and his friend had fixed an appointment, he was suddenly surrounded by some youths who had already knew his mission in the area.
when he arrived, he was forced out of his car and taking to the Catholic Church land where he was stripped, tortured, disgraced and left to his fate.
It was the police who saved the day for him after the matter was reported at the Ejigbo Division.
At the Ori-oke area where the incident happened, the residents confirmed the attack, saying that the man wanted to engaged one of the residents into gay practice through facebook.
He was pressurising the friend to come to his Lagos Island home for the sex romp and promised to pay him certain amount of money in dollars.
However, the friend declined and invited him to come to Ejigbo where he reportedly mobilized some youths and attacked him.

Yahya Jammeh, a better negotiator to his political allies than Goodluck Jonathan
After 22 years as a dictator, Yahya Jammeh was ready to relinquish power but not without a deal to protect him and his political allies from political harassment by the incoming administration.
Immediately, it was announced that he had lost elections to the opposition candidate, Adama Barrow, Jammeh called Barrow in a televised session to concede. He stressed that Barrow needed to work with him for a peaceful transition of power but Barrow did not seem to get Jammeh's political tone. He suddenly began holding public talks and stressing that he would probe and prosecute Jammeh when sworn in.
This was a grave mistake by Barrow and Jammeh was not going to allow anyone pose a threat to his freedom after power. He announced that he had rejected the election results due to suspicions of abnormalities. The world went berserk calling for Jammeh's head yet Jammeh was unmoved. He knew exactly what he wanted.
After weeks of unwillingness to relinquish power, ECOWAS stepped in to negotiate but to no avail. Jammeh waited until a deal was reached before accepting to step down. Below are some of the points reached in the deal:
1. ECOWAS declared that they would halt any military operations in The Gambia for the sub-regional body to continue the pursuit of the peaceful and political resolution of the crisis.
2. ECOWAS, the AU, and the UN, in the deal, made a commitment to work with the new Gambian government to pave the way for Jammeh's return to the country at any time he chooses in line with international human rights legislations and his right as a Gambian citizen and former president.
3. The three bodies also promised to ensure that countries that elect to host Jammeh and his family during the temporary exile period are not made to endure harassment, intimidation, sanctions and sundry pressures.
4. The new Gambian government was urged to provide assurance that supporters and members of Jammeh's government are not subjects of intimidation or harassment.
5. According to the details of the deal, the international bodies also made a commitment to work with the new government to prevent the seizure of assets and properties lawfully acquired by Jammeh, his family, cabinet members, government officials and supporters of his political party
6. The ousted dictator was equally assured by ECOWAS, the AU, and the UN that the government of his successor would enact legislations inimical to the treatment of himself, his family and supporters with dignity.
Take note of numbers 4,5 and 6. Jammeh ensured that the deal secured not only his freedom and that of his family but also that of his political allies.
In one deal, Jammeh avoided what happened to Charles Taylor, Ghadaffi, Mubarak and What is happening right now to Goodluck Jonathan.
This is what Nigeria's Goodluck Jonathan could not do for even his family members.
After peacefully conceding and relinquishing power to Buhari, Goodluck Jonathan, his family, relatives and political allies have been constantly persecuted by the Buhari led administration till date. Some for seemingly justifiable claims and others for false and baseless accusations. The list of those persecuted are endless including Patience Jonathan, Nigeria's immediate past first lady and wife of Goodluck Jonathan.
So while you lambast Yahya Jammeh and while I agree with you that he is not an example of a good leader nor can he fit into the shoes of Goodluck Jonathan's leadership strides, always remember that he is a better leader to his relatives and political allies than our own Goodluck Jonathan is to his relatives and allies.

Buhari Never Sat For Wasc Says Plaintiff In Certificate Case. thisdaylive
Buhari...the mindset too must change
Of all the people who filed suits to challenge President Muhammadu Buhari’s qualifications to stand for election to office of president regarding his West African School Certificate, WASC, in the run-up to the general election last year, it is only Nnamdi Nwokocha-Ahaaiwe who has refused to back down from pursuing the case in court. Others have since lost interest and moved on, Davidson Iriekpen asks why
Nigerians were taken by surprise when the Federal High Court, Abuja gave a ruling on May 26, 2016 dismissing the preliminary objections filed by President Muhammadu Buhari in response to your suit challenging his eligibility to stand for election because the general belief was that all the legal actions bothering on his qualification to stand for election to office of President or regarding his WAEC certificate had since been disposed off; what happened in this case?
My action is still pending. It went under the radar because General Buhari adopted an approach and tactics of delaying the matter; in fact the strategy was that the merits of the case would never be heard until after the President serves out his term in office. Their first tactics of course was to ensure that the case which was filed and served on them in February 2015 would not be heard and determined until after the general elections to avoid the possibility of General Buhari being barred from contesting the election. After the general election, the next tactics is to ensure the substantive action will never be heard and determined by the court. These were actualised by the filing of all sorts of frivolous objections that delayed the matter until the court was now able to give a ruling on them on the 26th May 2016 after over one year of the case being instituted. Ordinarily, this sort of matter should be given accelerated hearing and disposed within a month or two of its being instituted being a matter of the utmost national importance but for some reason, the president’s legal team wouldn’t have anything to do with an expeditious disposition of the case.
Why is that? You mean why they do not want the case to be concluded expeditiously? We can only speculate. It is significant that no defence has been filed for the president and his party the APC in this case. After over a year they were served. Interestingly, INEC who are 1st defendants in the case promptly filed a purported defence within time upon being served but the 2nd and 3rd defendants being the APC and General Buhari have not filed any defence. so I guess that tells the whole story.
So what do we expect on the next adjourned court date being June 16, 2016? Well, the information I have is that General Buhari’s legal team in execution of their tactics of not wanting the substantive case and the issues raised therein to be heard, are planning to file an appeal against the ruling of the Federal High Court and thereafter apply to stay proceedings in the latter court. In their calculation, the appeal will take another one or two years. If they lose, they will appeal on that interlocutory matter to the Supreme Court where it may take another three years. I am keeping an open mind about it.
So what exactly is President Buhari contesting in these interlocutory applications? He claims he was not properly served with the originating summons. He is not saying he was not served, but that he was not properly served; that he was served at an address in Abuja instead of an address in Kaduna where he was resident as at the time of service. The court had granted an order permitting us to serve him by substituted service at the national headquarters of APC in Abuja and we did but General Buhari contends that unless he is served at an address in Kaduna, the service is not proper. Now, of course, the Federal High Court has ruled that he was properly served and that ruling is what he wants to appeal. Now you would expect that a President who rode to power on the altar of personal integrity and anti-corruption would take the first opportunity to answer to the substance of the case and clarify and/or defend the substantive issues. But Nigerians can now clearly see the hypocrisy playing out here. For example, if I hear a rumour that someone is claiming in some court that I am a fake lawyer, I will not wait to be served but will do everything to discover the court where he filed such action and defend it. I will go to the court myself and apply for a certificate tone copy of the processes so I can defend it because I am sure I am duly qualified to practice law; I will not start using technicalities to frustrate the case being heard expeditiously as it is in my interest for the matter to be concluded as soon as possible so I can continue my legal practice without any distractions.
So we are not expecting the substantive issues to be argued on June 16, 2016 as the judge has indicated? It’s not likely, not only because I expect General Buhari to file an application to stay all further proceedings in the Federal High Court pending the outcome of an appeal or to bring a fresh preliminary objection on some other frivolous ground other than the one already disposed of, but because I will myself also be bringing an application to amend my originating summons. My application will be heard on the 16th of June 2016. The reason is that I filed the originating summons before the general elections and my prayers then was to disqualify General Buhari and bar him from contesting the elections not being constitutionally qualified to do so; now that the elections are over and General Buhari has assumed the office of President, my prayers need to be amended so I can pray the court to declare his election a nullity, order the 1st defendant (INEC) to withdraw his Certificate of Return and issue same to the party and its candidate which came second at the election and had a qualified candidate
This is the PDP and Dr. Goodluck Jonathan? Does this not confirm the speculation that this is a ploy by the PDP to come back to power through the back door? To answer your first question, Yes. That is an idle and false speculation. I had no discussion with anyone in the PDP before I brought the action, nor have I since. I have never met Dr. Goodluck Jonathan in person. I have equally received no support whatsoever from anyone in the PDP. I am a lawyer and I saw and appreciated that the Constitution of the Federal Republic was being raped with impunity and therefore brought this action to address it. I have nothing against General Buhari as a person, but I believe he is not qualified to be President as provided by our Constitution which is the grundnorm. If he is not qualified, then he should not occupy that office; there is nothing sentimental about it. If Chief Gani Fawehinmi were alive today and brought a similar action, which he surely would have, will you accuse him of doing so to favour the PDP or anyone? So why should my own action be perceived in that light?
Because we know you are a registered card-carrying member of the PDP I am a registered member of the PDP for sure but I am a lawyer and a citizen first and foremost. That my action might end up favoring my party is really beside the point.
So what is the substantive case all about? I don’t want to go into that in detail because it is still a matter before the court. I will only give you the background which is a matter of public record anyway, without commenting on the specific issues before the court. As everyone now knows from available records at the disposal of the general public, General Buhari registered for the Cambridge West African School Certificate when he was in his final year in Provincial Secondary School, Katsina. He was given an Examination number, but before he could sit for the examination, the Nigerian Army started recruiting with the minimum requirement being possession of a WASC or the equivalent at that time. The recruitment was supposed to be for those who had already sat for their WASC and obtained a certificate, i.e. the High School graduates of the previous year and not for General Buhari’s set who would be qualified to apply the following year after sitting for their WASC. Since he did not have any WASC not having yet sat for the exam, General Buhari got his Principal to issue him a recommendation letter in lieu of his WASC. All these are matters of public records and I am sure you also saw a bromide of that recommendation letter when it was published. General Buhari was enlisted into the Nigerian Army with his Principal’s recommendation letter and not his WASC. Having been enlisted, General Buhari reported at the Army Depot for training and commenced his military career; he never went back to sit for the WASC and that is why the Nigeria Army called a press conference at the height of the controversy and stated unequivocally that no WASC had ever been found in his file. You will recall that the Director of Army Public Relations (DAPR) at their January 2015 press conference said as follows and I quote: “In his personal file in the Nigerian Army, he does not have his original copy of his WASC, nor the Nigerian Army have the certified true copy of his WASC results, neither do we have a photocopy. We don’t have that but we do have other documents to show how he was recruited into the Nigeria Army as was entered on Form 199A”. Needless to say, that “other documents” which the Army has which shows how General Buhari was recruited is the Principal’s recommendation letter. You may also recall that at the height of the controversy in early 2015, some Nigerians wrote to the University of Cambridge requesting the School to furnish them with details of the contents of General Buhari’s file relating to the Cambridge WASC he registered for but the university responded that they can only act at the written request of the candidate himself. General Buhari blatantly refused to request Cambridge to release those details so we could confirm conclusively if he ever sat for the exam he registered for and if any certificate was ever issued to him. Indeed, you may also recall that upon assuming and being sworn into the office of President, one of General Buhari’s first official visits was to England, and the popular joke then which went viral on social media was that he would use the opportunity of that visit to go to Cambridge University and request them to release a copy of his certificate if it ever existed, but that never happened.
This is serious; are you saying the president never even sat for the examination? I am not the one saying so. The public records say so and the army said as much too. He joined the army with a letter of recommendation from his Principal instead of any WASC and of course this means that his entire career in the army is a complete fraud along with all the ranks he was awarded. He denied some other candidate who was qualified and had his WASC an opportunity of being enlisted into the army and this puts all the ranks obtained and offices held by General Buhari in question.
Considering the serious repercussions this case will have in the polity if the court finds merit in your case, are you not concerned for your personal safety Of course, I am concerned and my family and friends are too; I am not naïve and some subtle threats have already been made. For now it is small comfort that if anything happens to me, even if disguised as an accident or anything, Nigerians will know exactly who is responsible. In any case, it was Professor Wole Soyinka, I think, who once said in one of his books that The Man Dies In Him Who Keeps Quiet In The Face Of Tyranny or something of the sort. Speaking of which, I am amazed at the conspiracy of silence by Nigerians. It is astounding not, that in the light of this very apparent rape of our constitution, laws, indeed the very essence of our democracy, all of our civil society advocates and activists have gone deaf and dumb in the face of tyranny. All those voluble persons (and I don’t want to name them; they know themselves and Nigerians know them too), who pretend they are activists or keepers of the moral conscience of the nation astonishingly can’t see or appreciate what is happening. This country really misses Chief Gani Fawehinmi; he was the only fearless, credible, true and genuine conscience of the nation, not the pretenders we have today; all the others only make noise when it suits them and their interests but look the other way once they are compromised. None of us today, can tie Gani’s shoe-laces. Even the Ambassadors in Nigeria of the leading world democracies who would normally make statements on issues of this sort are mute: they have left us to our fate. I think only the British Prime Minister has said something that could be related to this issue when he said that Nigeria has graduated from being corrupt under the previous dispensation to being “fantastically corrupt” under the current President. No corruption can be more fantastic than when the head of a country; it’s President and custodian of its Constitution and laws, illegally and unlawfully ascends into office corruptly and with impunity. You know the saying about when the head of a fish is rotten; the rest is fantastic.
The Raped And Murdered Ghanaian Mother In Lagos. Graphic Pics
Residents of Oke Ota community in the Ibeshe, Ikorodu, Lagos State, on Thursday blocked the Ibeshe Road to protest against the rape and killing of a Ghanaian resident, Grace Obinna, by a man identified simply as Badoo.
PUNCH Metro learnt that apart from 27-year-old Obinna, Badoo had raped two other women in the area, cutting them with knives afterwards.
Our correspondent learnt that
Badoo, who sneaked into women’s apartments only at night, had also struck in Ilemeren, Abule, Oluwoye, Ibeshe Titun, and other communities around Oke Ota.
It was gathered that the attack on Obinna, a mother of one, which occurred around 1am on Sunday, was Badoo’s latest, which had forced other women to relocate to houses outside the community.
PUNCH Metro gathered that on Sunday, Badoo broke the window into Obinna’s apartment and went into the room of the victim while her husband was away.
The assailant was said to have raped Obinna and hit her head with weapons.
It was learnt that when neighbours and local vigilance group members, who heard the victim’s cries, got to the room, the man had fled, while Obinna and her baby were in a pool of blood.
Our correspondent gathered that the Ghanaian was rushed to two hospitals, but was rejected.
She was confirmed dead at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital, Ikeja.
Our correspondent learnt that the matter was reported at the Ipakodo Police Division and the residents added that the suspect had threatened to wreak more havoc in the community.
PUNCH Metro learnt that the panic prompted the Thursday’s protest, as residents blocked the Ibeshe Road and demanded that security agencies mobilise to the area to arrest the suspect.
When our correspondent arrived at the scene, the residents, including about 200 women, were seen holding leaves and singing solidarity songs.
The Chairman of the landlords’ association, Pastor Abayomi Adelakun, told PUNCH Metro that the man attempted To Molest an 86-year-old woman in the community a week before the Ghanaian fell victim.
He said, “Two weeks ago, he came to Oke Ota and attacked an 86-year-old grandma. He attempted To Molest her, but when she resisted, he injured her in the nose. The woman was rushed to a hospital. She survived the attack.
“On Sunday, around 1am, I was called by a security man that Badoo had raped and brutalised Grace (Obinna), who was a teacher with a nine-month-old baby. When we got to the scene, I could not recognise the lady again. All her teeth had been removed; she was in a pool of blood. She was rejected at two hospitals, but confirmed dead at LASUTH.
“Badoo forces himself into women’s rooms, rapes and brutalises them if they resist. He was doing that in neighbouring communities and has now come to Oke Ota.”
A resident, who gave her name only as Adenike, said Badoo usually sneaked into women’s apartments Unclad.
She said, “We do not know the power this man is using. He does not steal; he only sneaks into women’s rooms and rapes them. After the act, he uses a handkerchief to rub the victim’s private parts. Women, who have seen him at night, said he also rubbed oil on his body and walked Unclad so that no one could easily hold him. All of us can no longer sleep in our houses.”
The Baale of Oke Ota community, Chief Awoyemi Tijani, told PUNCH Metro that his wife also could not sleep at home because of the attacks.
He said, “Nobody has seen him in the daytime. I don’t know what he looks like. We call on the government to guarantee our security and safety. Since the day we heard about this, my wife no longer sleeps at home. I am wondering if Badoo is a spirit.”
The Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Dolapo Badmos, said the command had commenced investigation into the incident.
She said, “The command learnt about the protest, although the incident of rape and murder was never reported at the division. All necessary mercenaries have been set in motion to arrest the culprit and to forestall a recurrence.”
Drowned Unilag Students Buried Amid Tears
Tears flowed freely on Friday at the Ikoyi Cemetary, Lagos, as the remains of Adesola Ogunmefun and Olufunmilayo Odusina, two University of Lagos post-graduate students who drowned and died during one of their friend’s birthday party at a private beach in the Lekki area of the city on June 6, 2016, were finally laid to rest.
An emotional tribute service which started as early as 11:00am, saw family members, friends and well wishers of the departed young women pour out in droves to bid them farewell.
In glowing words, mourners at the event paid tributes to the victims who many described as very charming and promising.
Sunmibola Ogunmefun, a sibling to the late Adesola, said even though the family is in mourning, they are consoled by the good life she lived and impact she made during her sojourn on earth.
“Very simplistic, you’ve never been the kind to take things too seriously and your smile is from ear to ear. Keeping malice with you was futile, you’d always find a way to break the ice…never one to hold grudge.
“Sola, in your short years on earth, you’ve connected us with so many people and your death has brought reconciliation…you are indeed a special one,” she said while paying homage to her late sister.
Modupe Mujota, a boss to the late Adesola, described her as not only a workaholic but also a young lady with a warm heart.
In her tribute, she said, “Desola took care of me. She would wake me up daily at 6am and like a child I would often beg her for 15 more minutes. As many times as I asked, she would oblige me, she was that caring.
“Desola, our loss is heaven’s gain, light it up as always with your brilliant smiles. We love you dearly.”
Born on April 12, 1989, Adesola attended the Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria Staff School Ikeja, Lagos, Home Science Association of Nigeria Secondary School and Covenant University before proceeding to the University of Lagos for a Masters degree in International Law.
Until her painful demise, she worked as Personal Assistant to the Commissioner of Education, Science and Technology, Ogun State.
Odusina equally described as an easy-going and lovable young woman, was born on February 13, 1991.

Militants Threaten To Attack Niger-Delta Governors
THE Joint Revolutionary Council, JRC, of the Joint Niger Delta Liberation Force, JNDLF, yesterday, warned that it would go after any state governor from the Niger Delta region that betrays the current struggle by militants. The militant group gave the warning on a day the Niger Delta Avengers blew up a key crude oil pipeline, belonging to the Nigerian Agip Oil Company, Agip Eni, in Bayesla State making it the 16th of such attacks on pipelines since it commenced pipeline bombing on February 10.
JNDLF in a statement by the Commander, General Duties, JNDLF, General Akotebe Darikoro, and three others, also explained why the militant group did not launch six missiles in the region as earlier threatened. The group, which has agreed to engage in dialogue with the Federal Government also made a seven-point demand to forestall further attacks. Its words: “We shall continue to engage in dialogue if our demands are met. Our representatives for the dialogue, especially the governors and others will not betray our demands with the federal government. Any betrayal on their own part shall be viewed as betrayal of the entire region and we shall go after them immediately as they know our mode of operation in which they will not escape from us.”
Failed missiles
The group asserted: “There is no gainsaying that we made our earlier promise to launch six Missiles simultaneously against some targeted areas. But this was waved aside as a result of appeals made to us through email by the Federal Government and some international nations to open talks with (President) Buhari.” “We saw some genuine aspiration on the part of Buhari, who made several contacts to us to see reason with them over the issue of under-development of the region. And since he (Buhari) had set the ball rolling for a clear negotiation with us, there is no problem without solution. We have therefore declared ceasefire in order to negotiate with the government if it is a true reflection of what they have in mind to develop the Niger Delta region”.
The group added that: “We are not ready to negotiate with the federal government for the sake of monetary benefit to us but how genuinely the government will develop the region is at the centre of our discussion and anything less than that we will continue our struggle without further warning to the federal government.”
Conditions to forestall further attacks
The group also gave some conditions which the government must meet in order to avert resumption of struggle which include: “immediate release of the former National Security Adviser (NSA), Col. Sambo Dasuki (retd) and Dr. Nnamdi Kanu, whose release was ordered by the court severally, pointing out that “their continued detention was unconstitutional and against the tenet of our nascent democracy in the country”. JNDLF also demanded that: “the government must “direct EFCC to defreeze the bank accounts of ex- militant leader, Government Ekpemupolo, (a.k.a. Tompolo). The only Nigerian Maritime University sited in the most appropriate and befitting place– Okerenkoko in Delta State, must start the 2015/2016 academic session immediately;
“The immediate implementation of the report of the 2014 National Conference report, failure of which Nigeria will forcefully break-up. “ Oil-polluted lands in the Niger Delta must be cleaned up, while compensation should be paid to all oil-producing communities, e.g. Chevron fire outbreak of gas explosion in Koluama, Bayelsa state and Bonga Oil Spill in 2011; “Removal of Brigadier General Paul Boroh (rtd.) as an Amnesty Coordinator who does not understand the programmes and policies of the Amnesty and does not know us to the grassroots.
“Hence he (Boroh) should be replaced with Dr. Felix Tuodolo who has been in the struggle of non-violence since 1980 and he was the designer of the Amnesty programme. The group added: “We carry out all these attacks on oil and gas pipelines in the region because of the statement made by President Buhari that, he will develop those areas that gave him 95% votes during his presidential election last year. We, the Niger Delta people only gave him 5% hence we vowed that our oil money will not be used for the development of any other region. The President should change his mind-set towards the region, if not this will continue.”
JNDLF asserted: “We further thank the American government and other international nations through several emails for prevailing on us not to use missiles, but to come to round table discussion with the federal government. We also thank our foreign partners whohave gone back with their chartered submarine vessels.
However, if these demands are not met as we have embarked on cease fire now, there will be no further ultimatum to the Nigerian government,” it said. Avengers blow up Agip ENI crude pipeline in Bayelsa. Meanwhile, while Nigeria is still bleeding over previous pipeline attacks, Niger Delta Avengers, NDA, wreaked more pains, Friday, blowing up a key crude oil pipeline, belonging to the Nigerian Agip Oil Company, Agip Eni, in Bayesla State. Barely 24 hours earlier, militants, bombed a crude pipeline belonging to NPDC, a subsidiary of the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC, around Ogidigben, Warri South- West local government area of Delta state. The unrepentant militants have noticeably spurned the two- week ceasefire by the Federal Government and also turned away from dialogue, Avengers did not claim responsibility for the Thursday evening attack, initially thought to be an SPDC facility around Ogidigben, Warri South West local government area, Delta state, but in a tweet on its twitter handle, it said: “3.00 am of Friday @Niger Delta Avengers blow up the Obi Obi Brass Trunk line belonging to Agip ENI. It is Agip’s major crude oil line in Bayelsa state.” Joyful about the country’s calamity occasioned by its crushing strikes, the group in another tweet said: “It is good as foreign refineries stop buying Nigeria oil because the Nigeria state has been robbing the Niger Delta of her oil and gas. We will inform the international community when we are open for business,” NDA added. On June 2 at about 2:00am, the group blew up the Ogboinbiri to Tebidaba and Clough Creek to Tebidaba crude oil pipelines in Bayelsa State and at about 3:00 am, blasted the SPDC Forcados 48" Export line, saying, “We warned SPDC not to go ahead with repair works but they refused.”
Gbaramatu communities deplore fresh attacks Reacting to the latest pipeline attack riverside communities in Gbaramatu Kingdom, yesterday, condemned the bombings of crude lines in Bayelsa and Delta States respectively by the Niger Delta Avengers (NDA). Spokesperson of the communities and chairman of Kokodiagbene community, Comrade Sheriff Mulade, said: ‘’Our position is that the continued bombings of the region in view of the ceasefire arrangement is highly condemnable. They are technically crippling the economy to enable them get what they want. Therefore, they should not personalize their Niger Delta demands.
“Some of the things they highlighted are what the Niger Delta people are agitating for and violence is not best way to get those things done. We think they are only taking advantage of government’s failure to address these fundamental issues. ‘’We want to draw the attention of these militants to the fact they are destroying our environment which is the only thing that we have. The massive spills these bombings have triggered have devastated the environment and to remediate the environment would take decades to do. So, their acts are roundly condemned,” he said. In spite of the provocation, Mulade appealed to the federal government to be patient and adopt a more robust intelligence gathering mechanism to fish out the perpetrators whom he described as criminal elements masquerading as Niger Delta agitators. The communities urged the military high command to look inward because they were moles in its ranks and files, who work hands in gloves with the masterminds of the heinous crimes.
Cease bombing or lose support —Onokpasa In addition, APC chieftain in Delta state, Jesutega Onokpasa, has called on the Niger Delta Avengers to stop bombing pipelines or lose the support of Niger Deltans, He said: “Niger Deltan Avengers and other groups targeting oil and gas facilities should embrace the olive branch extended to them in form of the ceasefire declared by the Federal Government. The Avengers and similar groups must now demonstrate their love for the region by embracing dialogue. Recalcitrance and further destruction of our oil and gas infrastructure on their part will only cast them in the light of vandals and not the freedom fighters they claim to be.
The danger in such conduct will have the effect of further alienating the Niger Delta people from them which will prove to be quite ironic since they claim to be fighting our collective cause,” he said. Onokposa urges Tompolo to intervene Onokposa added: “I equally call on Government Ekpemupolo, aka Tompolo, wherever he might be to now demonstrate that he can be a part of the solution and not the problem. He has done it before during the Yar’Adua era when he was the last man standing and keyed into the Amnesty Program. “He should strive to do it again and be assured that his intervention will not be construed by reasonable men as indicative of the fact that he masterminded the attacks in the first place.
Many people already know that disenchanted former militants, who have returned to armed struggle due to hunger and frustration occasioned by the dynamics of our recent political experience, orchestrated the attacks. “I therefore urge Tompolo to be part of the solution and to take my advice in good faith in spite of the differences we might have had in the past. At the end of the day, Buhari’s government is the one we have and it needs money to function for our own good. If it cannot function, we will all be the losers if the country collapses on our heads.”
